Showcase Group - The New Hampshire Center for Nonprofits

Their work is directed toward strengthening the organizational capacity and effectiveness and governance practices of nonprofits by providing them with the tools necessary to strengthen and enhance their ability to serve the citizens and communities of New Hampshire.

To accomplish this, NH Center for Nonprofits:

Keeps members informed about important issues affecting nonprofit organizations on the local and national level through our action and messaging alert website givevoice.org. NHCN also endorses the principles of NH Citizens Advocating for Responsible and Services (NHCARES). NHCARES advocates for a health and human services budget in which will allow adequate funding of programs and services provided to NH's most vulnerable citizens.

Participating in sector specific research to increase the awareness of nonprofits and their impact on the citizens and economy of NH. Current reports include:

"The New Hampshire Nonprofit Sector" with annual reports filed with the IRS as the primary source, this report summarizes data on New Hampshire's nonprofits (with over ,000 in gross receipts) and illustrates the significant role this sector plays.

"Doing What Comes Naturally--A Lobbying Guidebook for New Hampshire Nonprofit Organizations" will offer practical information and resources for nonprofits engaged in non-lobbying advocacy, as well as those considering lobbying to influence legislation. It will include Federal and State specific rules and regulations governing nonprofit staff and volunteer lobbying activities.

Publishes a bi-monthly newsletter "Nonprofit New Hampshire", providing news and information for and about NH nonprofits, as well as issues that may impact nonprofits and their work. NHCN also distributes regular e-Updates announcing the latest in grant opportunities, nonprofit events and other timely news.

Holds seminars, conferences and workshops designed to strengthen the knowledge base and effectiveness of nonprofit staff, board members and volunteers. Participants have the opportunity to gain new information, fine-tune their skills, and network with their peers. Click for a schedule of current programs.

Provides management support to members with our research into best practices models, designed to address the diverse needs of NH's nonprofit community. We maintain a catalogued resource library with a vast array of publications and data specific to building strong and effective nonprofit organizations. Members have access to our mailing list and labels, which include member organization listings, media and policymakers. We also provide information on nonprofit reporting requirements; COBRA and other insurance laws; grant resources; sample position descriptions and bylaws and policy manuals.

Participates as an active member in several state and national organizations dedicated to strengthening nonprofit organizations.
