Showcase Group- TaxationWithoutRepresentationStadium.com

There have been several advocacy campaigns over the years to bring this situation to the attention of the American public, the most visible of those being the "Taxation Without Representation" motto on DC's license plates.

This spring, TaxationWithoutRepresentationStadium.com has set up a web-based campaign to raise money to buy the naming rights for the field that DC's new baseball team (the Nationals) will play on. The site is a somewhat tounge-in-cheek effort at stadium naming, but a serious effort to bring media attention to the plight of DC's citizens. The approach seems to be working, with over 30,000 in pledges within a week, and growing press interest.

The lesson is that sometimes it pays to think outside the box when setting up advocacy campaigns, and to be flexible enough to recognize unique opportunities.
